©PMF74 During European Heritage Days, come discover a place steeped in history. Accompanied by our passionate student guides, follow in the footsteps of hundreds of refugees, Resistance fighters, and Jewish families.

To celebrate European Heritage Days on September 19 and 20, 2026, come discover the Juvénat de Ville-la-Grand, an iconic site on the French-Swiss border where, between 1942 and 1944, hundreds of people found a path to freedom thanks to the dedication of clergy, smugglers, and local residents. Set amid the authentic sites where these events took place, the “Parcours du Mur de la Frontière 74” offers a weekend of discovery blending history, heritage, and education. On the program: Guided tours of the memorial trail. An educational treasure hunt for children. Screening of the historical film *Par-delà le Mur* (*Beyond the Wall*), filmed at the very sites where the events took place. Official presentation of the 2026 Departmental Collective Award for the Memorial Initiative, awarded by the National Association of Members of the National Order of Merit, in recognition of the film *Par-delà le Mur*. Lecture by Virginie Drocourt: “La Chaumière de Saint-Paul-en-Chablais: A Refuge for Jewish Children During World War II.” Refreshments, light snacks, and the association’s gift shop. An event open to all, offering the chance to discover a little-known chapter of local history, understand the vital role of the Franco-Swiss border during World War II, and pass on the values of solidarity, courage, and freedom to future generations.
