Description
Sports and friendship then become a real lifeline to hold on to.
His life story has been marked by a difficult childhood, marked by domestic violence, obesity, and bullying at school. At age 16, Sylvain discovered sports thanks to a friend who reached out to him when he was being bullied at school.
Sports and this friendship became a true lifeline for him to hold onto. He found a sense of purpose in an unusual athletic challenge—the Ironman (a 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.2 km run)—that helped him overcome these hardships.
Today, Sylvain is a three-time Ironman finisher and competes in some of France’s toughest ultra-cycling races.
Through his life story, he shows young people how to overcome these difficulties and regain confidence in their physical and mental abilities. His friend remains an example to him, but also a powerful symbol for all young witnesses who must also find the courage to stand up for themselves in such situations.
To date, Sylvain has met with nearly 23,600 young people. He also leads workshops for adults on the same topics, to support parents as they rebuild their own lives or help their children do the same.
