  • Cultural
Espace Louis Simon, 10 rue du Châtelet, 74240 Gaillard

Description

Professor Riccardo E. Pfister’s lecture will bring about lasting change in the health of newborns—and our future.
Every year, millions of newborns around the world lack access to care that is both simple and essential. Hundreds of thousands of lives could be saved through basic interventions: maintaining the baby’s body temperature and helping the baby breathe at birth. Beyond technical care, placing parents and family at the center of support profoundly changes the children’s future. With 40 years of experience in neonatology, in both wealthy countries and resource-limited settings, the conclusion is clear: it is simple, accessible, and compassionate interventions that make the greatest difference. By making them available everywhere, we can bring about lasting change in the health of newborns—and our future. Professor Riccardo E. Pfister is a neonatologist with more than 40 years of experience in Switzerland and internationally. His work focuses on improving care for newborns, particularly through simple and accessible interventions such as neonatal resuscitation, thermoregulation, and parental involvement. Committed to global health, he contributes to projects aimed at reducing neonatal mortality in resource-limited countries. The cultural season is supported by the Haute-Savoie Departmental Council and Ici Pays de Savoie.
