A look back at the 2023 Tour de France Stage 14 – Annemasse–Morzine

Memories of the 2023 Tour de France

In 2023, 19 years after its last visit, the Tour de France returned to Annemasse for the start of Stage 14. The town hosted the start of Stage 14, which finished in Morzine. The two towns are 152 km apart, but more importantly, the stage featured a cumulative elevation gain of 4,200 metres. The professional cyclists had to draw on both their climbing and descending skills on this stage featuring some iconic mountain passes.

It is unlikely that the riders will be able to enjoy the view of Lake Geneva at the start of the race, as the 4,200 metres of cumulative elevation gain will be on everyone’s mind, particularly the climbs up the Col de la Ramaz and the Col de Joux Plane. Everyone is also aware that they will need to draw on their descending skills to cross the finish line in Morzine as the winner.

Relive Stage 14

of the 2023 Tour de France

On 15 July 2023, the Monts du Genevois came alive to the rhythm of the Tour de France during the 14th stage, which ran from Annemasse to Morzine. Regarded as one of the most demanding stages of this year’s race, it provided an exceptional spectacle on the roads of Haute-Savoie.

A few days earlier, thousands of amateur cyclists had had the chance to take on the same challenge as part of L’Étape du Tour, the event that allows everyone to experience the Tour de France on a route identical to that of the professionals.
