Description

La Villa du Parc invites you to the opening of the "Ressources sensibles" exhibition in partnership with the cross-border biennial (re)connecting.earth (03).
La Villa du Parc is delighted to be associated with the (re)connecting.earth (03) "Ressources Sensibles" biennial event, which for its 3rd edition is offering a cross-border itinerary linking the Comédie de Genève to the Annemasse contemporary art center, via the Voie Verte and the Léman Express. More than 50 works of monumental sculpture, video, public art and conceptual art will be on show, along with numerous scientific, educational and festive events. Spearheaded by the art-werk association, which has made raising awareness of art and environmental issues more than just a commitment - it's a genuine proposal for a common future. This event promises to bring together a wide audience and offer multiple opportunities to cross borders - between countries, but also between people and knowledge. Conceived by the biennial's curator, Bernard Vienat, the exhibition at the Villa du Parc brings together works by 11 international artists on the theme of geological resources. It goes without saying that current world events have caught up with us in this artistic adventure, which we hope will be shared with all the more acuity and benevolence. This theme has been chosen in relation to troubled times, but also to the singular space we inhabit: from Geneva, capital of the raw materials trade, to an entire border zone whose landscape is marked by the massive multiplication of concrete construction sites responding to strong real estate demand. The Voie Verte is the result of the excavation of the railway tunnel, and is presented here as a space of possibilities, where a brand-new ecosystem can be observed, with other rhythms and movements, the driving forces behind new imaginations. For the time being, the works, while assembling visual effects, myths and poetic formulas, make no attempt to embellish reality. Without catastrophism or moralizing, they open up avenues for critical reflection on our history and extraction practices. Perceiving these dimensions - subterranean, out-of-field, infinitely large or small - is a sensitive exercise to which the works of art invite us.
