The Andilly Medieval Festival programme 5 days of festivities and shows

Looking for something a bit different to do? For five days, the Médiévales d’Andilly transforms the park, which is the eighth-largest theme and leisure park in France. Here, the Middle Ages come to life at every turn. This year marks the 31st edition of this medieval event. Over 20 hours of shows punctuate your days, in a uniquely immersive atmosphere in the Alps.

From the moment you arrive, you’ll be immersed in a world populated by knights, craftsmen, troubadours, artists and volunteers. Each area offers a different experience. You can move freely between the stages, the Viking camp and the entertainment, at the heart of a lively and vibrant festival.

The programme for the Médiévales d’Andilly festivities includes:

    • Spectacular jousting matches with riders charging at full speed
    • Medieval armoured combat, inspired by tournaments of the Middle Ages
    • Impressive birds of prey displays, with audience interaction
    • Shows combining storytelling, magic and humour for young and old alike
    • Musical entertainment and roaming performers throughout the park

The shows and activities follow one after another all day long, with no downtime. You’ll be transported from one world to another, experiencing a mix of excitement, thrills and wonder. It is this richness that makes the Médiévales d’Andilly so special. A festival where every visit is different, where every detour holds a surprise.

Highlights: Jousts, tournaments and evening events

During your stay at the Grandes Médiévales d’Andilly, enjoy the shows and festivities that have made this event so famous in the Haute-Savoie region, between Annecy, Chamonix and Geneva.

Throughout the day, the arenas come alive with spectacular equestrian jousting. The knights compete in real medieval tournaments, thrown at full speed, in an atmosphere worthy of the great medieval festivals. The clash of spears, the clash of armour, the cheers of the audience… each duel plunges you back into history. Other events punctuate the day. Falconers and birds of prey fly over the park, storytelling and magic captivate young and old alike, while the medieval entertainment unfolds, reminding you of life in the Middle Ages.

But when the sun goes down, the park is transformed to make way for night-time shows. As night falls, the festival takes on a more magical atmosphere. Fireworks, lights, immersive staging… everything is designed to create a unique artistic experience in France. At the Grandes Médiévales d’Andilly, the Middle Ages come alive, vibrant and almost magical.

A medieval market and passionate craftspeople

Between two shows, take the time to explore the medieval market. At the Grandes Médiévales d’Andilly, craftsmen, blacksmiths, designers and enthusiasts come together to show you their traditional skills. Blacksmiths, glass-blowers, woodcarvers, knife-makers – these stalls are ideal for souvenirs or gifts. Chain mail, objets d’art, costumes, medieval clothing, demonstrations of period crafts – it’s a truly immersive experience.

For gourmets, there are numerous taverns serving generous medieval cuisine. Take your pick from meats and charcuterie, potato fritters, cheese sandwiches and sweet treats, and eat as you would in the days of the knights.

Why visit the Medieval Festival as a family?

Are you looking for an original idea for a family day out between Annecy, Geneva and Chamonix? The Grandes Médiévales d’Andilly is one of the unmissable events to experience with children in Haute-Savoie.

Andilly Park, situated deep in the forest in the Monts du Genevois, offers a pleasant, shaded setting. You can easily spend a whole day there, enjoying shows, activities and festivities. Younger children can explore the Viking camps, observe daily life as it was back then and discover scenes inspired by the Middle Ages. They ask questions, touch things, experiment and immerse themselves in the world. The medieval farm is also one of the highlights. Here, children meet animals, learn about ways of life and take the time to slow down. It’s a simple, authentic interlude that contrasts with the energy of the shows.
