Purchased in 1997 by the commune of Douvaine, Château de Chilly is a fortified house dating back to the 15th century. Partly destroyed by fire in 1687, it now houses a restaurant (Michelin-starred) and community facilities.
Originally, this large building stood alone at the foot of the Ballaison hill. Today, it retains its haughty appearance, set against the Crépy vineyards.
It seems that the fortified house as we see it today dates back to the 15th century. However, it is thought to have existed as early as the 1300s.
Passed from owner to owner, it was Count Xavier de Foras who bought it and rebuilt it "identically" in the 1960s, giving it its current appearance, reconstituted according to the original plans: manor house set against the square tower, round tower integrated into the surrounding wall, dovecote, cellar, etc.
In 1997, the commune of Douvaine acquired the building, which now houses the Michelin-starred "Ô Flaveurs" restaurant.
The Château is not open to the public.
