Street art in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois

Art in the city
From concrete to emotion: an artistic journey through the city centre

Saint-Julien-en-Genevois is being transformed into a veritable open-air gallery, where street art invites itself into the heart of the town to tell stories, embellish the public space and refl ect the local identity. For several years now, talented artists, in collaboration with committed associations such as the AssoGlitch, have been taking over the town’s walls to create monumental frescoes that are accessible to all.

These works, which can be seen in the town centre, offer an artistic experience under the open sky, free of charge and open to everyone, all year round. They demonstrate the local authority’s commitment to culture and the enhancement of urban space.

Frescoes at the Gymnase du Léman

By Wozdat | 2016

In Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, the route begins near the Gymnase du Léman.
This is where Saint-Julien’s first monumental fresco was created. Artist Wozdat dedicated the wall to basketball and Michael Jordan.
This creation was accompanied by the MurExpress project. The Léman gymnasium was completely covered by a dozen local artists.

Fresco of the High Street

By Cité Création | 2012

7 minutes – that’s how long it takes you to get to the next part of the route. Head towards the Post Office.
In the heart of the town, walk past the Town Hall to reach the Grande Rue, where you’ll see two trompe-l’œil murals.
On one of the two walls, you’ll see a lively scene: a local woman opens her false shutters to reveal a group of musicians playing in front of a Genevan landscape. Festive, isn’t it?

Fresco of the High Street

By Cité Création | 2012

Now walk the few steps to the second trompe-l’œil. Here, it’s a landscape well known to the people of Saint-Julien: a fake Salève, painted to imitate the real thing. It adorns this wall, bringing nature and the mountains into the heart of the town.

Fresco “Vivre ensemble”

By Keim | 2018

Now it’s time to head to Avenue de Ternier to admire the next work on the route. It was commissioned by the social landlord Erilia and the town of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois.
Produced by the Glitch association and the artist Keim, it is a large-scale work that has been painted here: the Vivre ensemble fresco.

A project by the town of Saint-Julien-en-Genevois and AssoGlitch.

Fresco “Le fils de l’homme”

Par Wozdat | 2017

Here we go for the fifth and penultimate stage of our tour.
Here, artist-graffiti artist Wozdat has been working with secondary school pupils from Collège de la Présentation de Marie, who are taking an art option.
The aim: to discover the creative process, from the design to the production of a collaborative mural, through visits and creative workshops. A great success, don’t you think!

Fresco “Un bateau, une vie”

By Wozdat | 2019

Finally, let your steps guide you to the last stop on the route: the Saint-Julien-en-Genevois hospital.
This fresco depicts the journey of a lifetime. The boat symbolises movement and a positive approach to moving forward. The sail is represented by a heart, the emblem of humanity in this composition. The heart is nourished by moving particles from the sun and water. These elements give rise to the flowers. A transcription of Charles Baudelaire’s Invitation au Voyage stands out on the sail.

A Ville de Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, Centre Hospitalier Annecy Genevois and AssoGlitch project.
