The exhibition Refuge au bord du monde. Traces funambules au Désert de Platé is a narrative of their experiences, in text and installation.
July 2024, writing residency at the Refuge de Platé.
During this week, they share the daily life of the refuge staff, wander the Désert de Platé, meet hikers, accompany some forty people in writing workshops, and collect materials and sensations.
After the residency. "How do you tell the story of this experience? How can we re-incarnate the bodies confronted, the mind heckled, the dizziness, the wonder?".
Images and writings slowly take their place in their imaginations. "Amid the lapiaz of the Désert de Platé, the stained glass window in grisaille was the first dream, like an echo of the mosaics in the Notre-Dame de Toute Grâce church on the Plateau d'Assy, a stained glass window liberating the light and revealing the experience facing the Désert."
July 2025, the time of restitution.
To evoke the desert, the refuge and the ridge line, they chose transparencies, raw materials, mineral tones, curved, broken and tapering lines, and the evocation of vegetation by a few wild grasses. And a wink, in the style of a photo novel, to those who worked to make this project possible.
The "EllesDeux & Cie" collective was founded in 2022 by Breton artists Stéphanie Lemarchand and Isabelle Jabaud. Each with experience of multiple artistic practices, they anchor questions of the sensitive and the unexpected at the heart of their creations - writing workshops for all, public readings, theater, dance, collages - with the renewed intention of sharing the echo of the world in emotions and sensations.
