Best practices in natural environments
The Monts du Genevois, like the rest of Haute-Savoie, is home to numerous sensitive natural areas.
Natura 2000 areas, biotope protection orders… Nature is unique and makes up the richness of the region. So preserve it by applying a few good gestures for a nature discovery in all serenity.

Park in authorized parking areas. Avoid unauthorized parking. Respect property and local residents.

Respect the private and public property you use and cross. Do not cross private roads if you are not authorized to do so.

Respect the workers you come across during your leisure activities. Farmers, shepherds, foresters… Let them work in peace.

Keep your dog on a leash in authorized areas.

For your safety and the preservation of biodiversity, stay on marked paths and trails.

Close the gates behind you to prevent animals grazing on the mountain pastures from escaping.

Do not feed the animals. If possible, try to avoid them and keep a safe distance from the patous (defense and protection dogs).

Be discreet and don’t disturb the wildlife. If you want a souvenir, don’t hesitate to take photos… but from a distance!

Don’t pick wild plants uninvited: some are toxic, others are protected. Unauthorized picking in protected areas is punishable by fines.

Don’t throw your garbage away! Take a bag with you to collect it, bring it back down and dispose of it at home.
